GPU fans spin up full force while playing certain maps

On certain maps - but not all maps - my GPU fans have started spinning up full force (so loud I can hear it over the noise in my headphones) and this was not happening a few weeks ago. Additionally, this does not happen on more graphically intense games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V on max settings.

Specs:
i7-4790k
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (latest drivers)

I'm running at 1440p fullscreen (but it doesn't matter if it's 1080p on the other monitor) on the top settings - but this computer should be able to handle this game at max settings without sounding like the hardware is going to catch on fire.

Additionally, the CPU utilization will sit around 60% across all eight threads when this is happening and go back down a little bit on the other maps.

On other maps, the GPU fans settle back down to normal and I can't hear them anymore. The maps that I have noticed it happening on so far have been Zeroside and Phil's Office. I checked the Radeon app settings and none of the temperatures seem wildly out of the ordinary.

Has anyone else reported this kind of issue with AMD hardware?

Have you tried using vsync or lowering the max frame rate in the options menu?

Hi Rob,

Sorry, I wasn't able to see previous replies and posted those other comments earlier.

Yeah, I've been using vsync the whole time, but I just lowered the framerate from "no limit" to 144. I'll give it a go when I play with friends again and see if there's any improvement.

Thanks.

Hi Rob, lowering the max frame rate to 144 seems to have done the trick, I played a bunch over the last couple of days on the maps I mentioned previously and didn't hear the fans spinning up once.

Thanks a bunch!

If I can provide any information about the game and its running state, like a debug log or anything - let me know how to generate it and I'll be happy to provide that.

I love playing the game and want to keep playing it, I just don't want to be worried about my hardware.
