Me and another guy got same briefcase at same time. We both got it and we both tried to extract it and it didn't work

A teammate got the briefcase and I followed him. We then find an enemy. My team mate got knocked out and I killed the guard. I then go to get the briefcase. My teammate wakes up and gets it. So I just thought he got it before me.

We then go to the heli extraction point and try to extract the briefcase. I see he has the briefcase on his back, he goes to the extraction point and nothing happens. Then he looks at me and says "oh you got the package" so I enter the extraction point and again. Nothing happened. We later won the game and switched teams. And when I "died" and seen my body. I also seen a briefcase on the ground next to me. Which means I had the briefcase on me.
